Soon after Minister Rauff Hakeem assumed duties pertaining to City Planning and Water Supply, journalists posed questions to him regarding the oil spill into the Kelani River.
Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, Rauff Hakeem stated that the Environmental Authority had asked them whether the recommendation to ban the company regarding this matter should be raised or not.
He went on to note that they have been informed that the authority has granted permission on the matter even though they have not been given the green light.
He added that they are planning on having a discussion not only regarding the loss incurred, but also ensuring that the relevant company takes responsibility to prevent an incident as such in the future.
