A group of representatives of the Government Medical Officers’ Association called on President Maithripala Sirisena on the afternoon of Monday September 7.
The meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association took place at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday.
The GMOA had requested the president to resolve the issues surrounding the wages of government medical officers, while protecting the state salary policy.
A communique issued by the President’s Media Unit said that matters pertaining to certain programmes which were proposed during President Sirisena’s tenure as Health Minister and are yet to be implemented, were discussed extensively.
The Government Medical Officers’ Association had also commended the Drug Eradication Programme spearheaded by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The GMOA had later pledged its fullest support for the Drug Eradication Programme.
