Information has come to light about a Sri Lankan woman who was trapped in a house in Saudi Arabia for a period of eight months.

S. Wasanthi Apawas, 46-year-old mother of three and a resident of Kalatuwawa was locked up in a cell located at a mansion in Saudi Arabia. It said that she suffers from paralysis of her hands due to alleged assault.

The mother of the victim alleged that her daughter was harassed, beaten and locked up in a room without food or water. As she could not bear the harassment anymore she had somehow filed a complaint with the police against her employers. But it was the police who reassigned her to work in the same place.

Meanwhile, the daughter of the victim says that her mother left on February 27 and that she is being harassed and locked up in a room without any food.

She also says that they went to the Foreign Office thrice, but of no avail.

As officials fail to provide the victim’s children with a definite answer, and with hopes fading, they are now seeking the solace from the gods.
