Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to appear before Presidential Commission of Inquiry again

Major Chanaka Perera, who is the Manager of  Division two – Western Province of Rakna Lanka Security Services, accepted that security officers of the organisation were deployed for campaigning activities prior to the last presidential election.

The major made the remark while giving evidence on Thursday, September 3, before the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry into large scale corruption and fraud. Evidence was heard before the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry into large scale corruption and fraud relating to the activities of the Rakna Lanka Security Services.

The Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who is the CEO of Rakna Lanka Security services, its Chairman Former Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, Former Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, Western Provincial Minister Upali Kodikara, Mayor of Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia Dhanasiri Amaratunge, and Mayor of Kotte Janaka Ranawaka were summoned before the commission on Wednesday.

The commission was represented by four high court judges. A former auditor general and officers of the Rakna Lanka Security Services, too, were questioned today.

The Secretary of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry Lasil de Silva stated that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has been summoned again at 9.30 a.m on September 4.
