Speaking during an inspection tour at the Coast Conservation Department, President Maithripala Sirisena stated that a special programme for coast conservation and preservation would be initiated in the future.
President Sirisena made the unannounced visit to the Coast Conservation Department located in Maligawatte on Wednesday, August 26.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the President had inquired about the progress of the conservation and preservation programmes carried out by the department. The President had also looked into the issues that have arisen in implementation of these programmes.
The President’s Media Division also stated that the president had pointed out the importance of paying special attention on the soil formation project.
President Sirisena had directed the officials to remove unauthorised buildings, with the assistance of the police.
