Veteran Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who has contributed much to the world of cricket, bid adieu to the game on Monday, August 24
A distinguished gathering, including President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, were present at the P. Sara Oval for the presentation ceremony of the match to extend their wishes to Kumar Sangakkara.
Speaking at the event, the President said that we all to admit the fact that we are all honoured to call Kumar Sangakkara son of Sri Lanka and a person considered to be Sri Lanka’s hero in the international arena.
President Sirisena, making a special statement requested Sangakkara to accept the post of Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
However, speaking at the press conference for a one last time as a test cricketer, Kumar Sangakkara said that he respects the request made by the President adding that he needs to discuss it further because he lacks experience in that field.
Sangakkara also said that he will discuss it with the President and will make a decision.
