India beat Sri Lanka by 278 runs in the second test to level the three-match series just after lunch on the fifth and final day.
A special felicitation event was held at the P. Sara Oval for veteran batsman Kumar Sangakkara who bid farewell to Test Cricket today, August 24.
During the ceremony President Maithripala Sirisena who was the chief guest at the event applauded Sangakkara for his achievements and also offered him the position of Sri Lanka High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Prime minister Ranil Wikermesinghe and former president Mahinda Rajapaksa were among those who were also present at the P.Sara Oval to witness Kumar Sangakkara in action one last time.
A number of special mementos were presented to the veteran batsman during the felicitation event.
