The Elections Secretariat says that a decision has to be made by provincial chief ministers who contested and won at the recently concluded parliamentary elections, if they wish to remain in their former positions, prior to being sworn in as parliamentarians.

Chief ministers of Western, Uva and North Western provinces who contested at the election emerged victorious. They are required to inform if they wish to swear in as parliamentatians or remain to hold the chief ministerial position.

Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L Rathnayake said that they need to resign from their current positions prior to swearing in as parliamentarians. Meanwhile, the names of the parliamentarians who won the election have been gazetted.
