Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena at Presidential Secretariat on Friday morning. Ranil Wickremesinghe returns to the office for a fourth term after the United National Party won the closely contested general election.

The coalition led by United National Party, won 106 seats in Monday’s parliamentary election, just seven short of a simple majority in the 225-member assembly but enough to form a government.

Following the swearing in ceremony General Secretary of the UNP Kabir Hasim and General Secretary of the SLFP, Duminda Dissanayake inked an  MOU to work in cooperation within parliament.
