Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that 63,000 police officers have been assigned for duty for the supervision of the general elections.

Police Media Spokesperson, ASP Ruwan Gunasekera stated that, at the moment, 7,000 Civil Defence Force personnel and more than 4,000 Special Task Force personnel have been deployed for duty.

He added that there are 2,885 mobile patrols carried out country-wide. A minimum of two police officers and two civil defence force personnel will be deployed to carry out patrols. In addition, two police officers with weapons are present at polling centres.
