Over 100 foreign observers to study today’s elections

The Elections Secretariat says that 162 foreign election observers are set to be deployed to monitor Monday’s general elections.

The Elections Secretariat adds that of these 160 foreign election observers, 80 are from the European Union, 29 belong to the South Asian Elections Authorities, three are from the Asian Elections Authorities Guild and  15 from the Commonwealth.

The Executive Director of PAFFREL Rohana Hettiarachchi has stated that 14 foreign election observers, who were invited by him, are set to monitor today’s election activities.

The National Coordinator of the Election Law Violations Centre Manjula Gajanayake stated that 21 election observers have been invited from eight different countries to monitor the proceedings of the  general election proceedings.
