Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera convened a media briefing on the evening of Monday August 17.

Speaking at the press briefing, the media spokesperson said that not a single violent or serious incident has been reported and twenty two raids were carried out and 35 persons who were engaged in illegal campaigning were arrested for violating election laws.

Speaking further, ASP Gunasekara noted that nine vehicles were seized.He added that the 35 suspects will be produced before the relevant courts.
