The Greek parliament has backed the the country’s new bailout deal.
Subsequent to all night talks and rebellion by many MPS in the governing party, the bailout bill has passed by a comfortable majority. Thedea; is said to bring tax rises and tougher spending cuts in return for an EU bailout of €85bn (£61bn, $95bn). Tis is Greece’s third bailout attempt in three years.
More than 40 MPs from his left-wing Syriza party voted against him on Friday, but the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, defended his decision calling it painful and that his country has no choice.
The Eurozone finance ministers will meet to vote on the plan later in Brussels.
