Presidential Commission to hear oral evidence over Batticaloa’s missing

The Presidential Commission to Investigate into complaints regarding missing persons said that oral evidence with regard to those who went missing in the Batticaloa district during the conflict will be heard between August 22 – 25.

Secretary to the Commission H.W. Gunadasa said that evidence on the Kalawanchikudi disappearances will be heard on August 22 and  23 while oral evidence with regard to those who went missing on the Valaichchenai  area will be heard on August 24 and 25.

The ecretary to the Presidential commission to Investigate into complaints regarding missing persons also noted that 1200 complaints citing a number of disappearances have been lodged with the commission thus far.
