European champs Barcelona started their season off on a high note when they won the the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla FC, yesterday.
Barcelona managed to walk away with the title for the fifth time after a record-equaling nine goal thriller in Tbilisi. It was Sevilla Fc who scored first when Ever Banega netted in a free kick but Lionel Messi managed to put his side ahead after scoring two free-kicks himself and team mates Rafinha and Luis Suarez extended the lead to 4-1.
Jose Antonio Reyes, a Kevin Gameiro penalty and a Yevhen Konoplyanka goal saw the game head in to extra time before Pedro coming in from the bench managed strike in a goal. This Barcelona’s first success in the competition since 2011, and joined Italian side AC Milan in winning the cup five times.
