Party leaders express views as general election draws near

With the 2015 General Election one week away, multiple views were expressed by political party leaders at different events.

Speaking at a rally in Ampara, Prime Minister Ranil Wikremesinghe stated that those who value good governance in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, JHU, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, a collective of 161 organisation of Tamil parties in the hill country have pledged their support to the United National Party to create a new country in 60 months.

Meanwhile, speaking at a rally in Kegalle, the former president and Kurunegala District candidate of the UPFA, Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that PM Ranil Wickremesinghe inherited some powers as prime minister by changing the 19 Amendment, stating that a national government can only be established by the party leaders who gain a majority of votes.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who is the leader of the Democratic party and Hambantota District candidate of the UNP, Sajith Premadasa too shared their views at separate rallies.
