President Maithripala Sirisena says that the country needs experts and intellectuals to face the challenges ahead of the country.
The President made this statement at an event held on Friday at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
The President was speaking at the launch of book the One, a gathering of unities, penned by Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The President said that certain sectors in the country suffered a set back as opinions of intellectuals were set a side and decisions which could make an impact on such sectors were taken by the political higher ups without consulting the opinions of professionals and intellectuals.
He went on to note that the country requires the service of intellectuals who could ensure a better future for the country.
