Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has written a latter to the Elections Commissioner highlighting several incidents which violate election laws.
In the letter, the minister noted that, Sub Inspector C.T. Galagedara of the Kottawa Police who spearheaded a crackdown on drugs in the Maharagama and Kottawa areas has been transferred to the Mirihana Police after the general elections were announced.
Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe notes that information has come light that this transfer was made based on a condition imposed by criminals connected to the drug trade in order to support a certain politician.
The Minister of Justice requests the Elections Commissioner to order the IGP to immediately cancel the transfer of this officer who had worked toward preventing the spread of drugs.
