Transparency International says that 20 vehicles which were granted to ministers of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council are yet to be returned.
National Convener, in charge of election monitoring affairs at the organisation, Shan Wijetunga says that complaints have been lodged with the Elections Commissioner in this regard.
The vehicles were granted to the ministers of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, to monitor election activities in the province, over a decision reached by the provincial cabinet.
However, Shan Wijetunga asserted that these vehicles should be returned to the provincial council during the election period.
Speaking to News 1st, on the issue, Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council. Mahipala Herath said that measures are currently being taken by police to seize the vehicles that were not returned by relevant officials.
