Customs officials at the Katunayake Airport have arrested an individual who had allegedly attempted to smuggle a stock of gold into the country. The gold is said to be worth nearly Rs.12 million.

Customs Media Spokesperson, Customs Export Director Leslie  Gamini said the seized gold weighs up to two kilogrammes and 400 grammes.

He further noted that the suspect is a forty-year-old resident of Akurana.
