The United Nations has called on The Capital Maharaja Organization to be represented at the World Humanitarian Summit- Regional Consultation to be held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
The World Humanitarian Summit is an initiative of the UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-moon, aimed at forging new partnerships and finding better ways to meet the world’s humanitarian needs. The summit will bring together hundreds of international delegates from governments, humanitarian organisations and people affected by humanitarian crises.
The Capital Maharaja will be the only private organisation representing Sri Lanka at the summit, and will submit the full spectrum of its humanitarian efforts, focusing specifically on its voluntary relief efforts during natural disasters including floods, droughts, landslides etc.
Group Director of the company, Chevaan Daniel, will lead the group consultation on engaging all stakeholders in disaster response. With the number of people affected by humanitarian crises almost doubling over the past decade, the UN sees more people being affected by conflict and disaster, more frequently and for longer periods of time.
