Police have commenced investigations into a robbery where a group of individuals stormed into a private company in Malabe on the Athurugiriya road, shooting the security guard within the premises.

Police say that four masked assailants were involved in the incident that occurred on Sunday (July 26, morning. The robbers were said to have stolen gold chains placed on the statue of Lord Buddha within the premises of the company.

The injured security guard has been admitted to hospital. Police say the suspects connected to the robbery are yet to be identified.
