With the political platform heating up, opposition parties continue to slam the government over the controversial Central Bank bond transaction.

Former Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris raised a question as to what this government, which stresses the need for right to information, has done. He added that they have obtained an enjoining order from court preventing the COPE report from being released to the public.

The former minister added that they have now decided to challenge this matter in court, present the COPE report to court and will present it as a public document.

Meanwhile, Former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said that when this issue came about, they began slamming the former governor saying that Ajith Nivard Cabraal’s sister was a director at the Perpetual Treasuries Company.

Political Analyst Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka noted that no matter what, there was always one thing on the minds of the people and it was the fact that the UNP is smart in terms of the country’s economy and development.

Anuradhapura District JVP Candidate Wasantha Samarasinghe said that not only did they protect the corrupt, they obtained an enjoining order from court preventing the release of a report compiled by a parliament-appointed committee on the fraudulent Central Bank bond transaction.
