Avissawella lorry taken into police custody over unauthorised election propaganda activity

Two suspects have been arrested for carrying out illegal propaganda activities with the use of LED digital boards on  a lorry in Avissawella. The lorry has also been taken into police custody.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the Avissawella Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Elections Commissioner and respective party secretaries held a discussion at the Elections Secretariat in Rajagiriya on Monday afternoon.

Additional Elections Commissioner M.M. Mohammed said that at the discussion the Elections Commissioner informed the party secretaries of rules and guidelines that should be followed during election campaigning activities.

He added that  the Elections Commissioner informed those present that the use of LED digital boards should be used only at the premises of the Party Headquarters.
