A two-day raid carried out in the Baharuwa area in Thanamalwila, resulted in the discovery of of Heroin cultivations spanning an area of nearly four acres.

During the raid, the Anti-Vice Unit of the Moneragala district discovered two Heroin cultivations – one spanning an area of three and a quarter acres, and the other – approximately half  an acre.

Thereafter, officials of the Anti-Vice Unit of the Moneragala district took steps to destroy both plantations. The persons said to have maintained the cultivation have fled the area. Police have taken steps to apprehend the suspects.
