The Consumer Affairs Authority says that they have seized a type of intoxicant that was allegedly sold to schoolchildren in the Malabe North area in Thalangama.

Issuing a release, the authority noted that the intoxicant — made with a mix of tobacco, areca nut and other items — was seized during a raid carried based on a complaint that it was being used by schoolchildren.

A sample of the intoxicant has been sent to the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board to be examined, and legal measures will be taken following the examination report.
