A fundamental rights petition, which was filed seeking Rs. 10 million as compensation citing obstructions when watching the Satana political debate programme during the Presidential Election period on the PEO TV platform, was taken up on Tuesday, July 14, once again.
The petition was taken up before the bench comprising of Chief Justice K.Sri Pavan, Priyantha Jayawardena and Anil Gunawardena.
Filing the petition Attorney-at-Law Manju Sri Chandrasena points out that obstructions to viewing of the Satana Political Debate Programme on Sirasa TV on Nov. 22, had violated his fundamental rights.
The petition has cited Sri Lanka Telecom, The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, then-media minister Keheliya Rambukwella , Secretary to the Ministry of Media Charitha Herath and the Attorney General as respondents.
