UPFA Matara District Group Leader Dullas Alahapperuma lodged a complaint with the police on Monday, July 13, alleging that he has received death threats.
Dullas Alahapperuma informed police that he was threatened by a United National Front supporter when he went to submit nominations to the Matara District Secretariat on Monday morning.
When journalists questioned Minister Mangala Samaraweera over the incident, he noted that it is none other than Dullas Alahapperuma’s own party members who are threatening him.
Thereafter, Dullas Alahapperuma responded by saying that he has clashed with even bigger thugs before and that he is ready for it.
Meanwhile, two JVP members of the Puttalam District were attacked by an unidentified group early Monday morning. According to the Police Media Unit, the incident had taken place around 1:30 a.m. in the Koduwawa area, Marawila. The group was said to be attacked while returning from a party meeting. One of the victims who sustained serious injuries has been admitted to the Marawila Base Hospital.
In addition, police recovered two petrol bombs left opposite the UNP office in Mahiyanganaya on Sunday, July 12, evening.
