Teachers’ unions across the island have made a request from all main political parties to ensure that only clean candidates submit nominations for the upcoming general elections.

Convener of the All Ceylon Graduate Teachers Union E.M.J.S. De Saram stated that they have addressed several letters to all political parties in this regard.

The collective, which comprises 15 unions, stated that whoever comes into power next should have a clear proposal for the development of education in the country.
