President Sirisena inspects SL Air Force main base

President Maithripala Sirisena engaged on an inspection tour in the main base of Sri Lanka Air Force at Katunayake on Friday, July 10 evening.

A guard of honor was accorded to the President Maithripala Sirisena upon his arrival to the Sri Lanka Air Force Base. The president then inspected the air-craft of the Sri Lanka Air Force and its weapons. President Sirisena stated that during his meetings with the heads of state from developed countries, he gave priority to the increase in training and technological knowledge for the Army, Navy , Air Force personnel, along with the Police.

He added that through this they hope that the three armed forces and the Police will be able to provide better service. He noted they rendered a great service to the motherland during the war. He added that under the new government, respect and acceptance will be accorded within society.

Later in the ceremony, Air Force Commander, Air Chief Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala awarded a symbolic memento to the president to mark the occasion.
