UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha says the nominations list of the party are almost complete.
UPFA candidates signed the nomination papers on Saturday, July 11, at the Mahaweli Centre in Colombo. Several Former MPs have been given the opportunity to contest the parliamentary polls.
Ruwan Ranatunga stated that this is the opportunity for the people of the country to elect persons to parliament, which is the most important thing at the elections. He went on to note that the responsibility during this election is to identify who is clean and elect the suitable person to parliament, as all leaders should come together. He added that a government devoid of fraud and corruption should be established.
The following is an excerpt of a conversation with Dinesh Gunawardena:
“… Nominations are now being given to persons involved with the administration. The secretary will be looking in to that …”
Q : Who was denied nominations ?
A : You will get to know that on the 13th at 12:30 in the afternoon.
Professor Tissa Vitharana stated that their work is not over as the Sama Samaja Party has received a considerable number of nominations. The final decision is yet to be taken as the UPFA has also made requests, he said.
Premajayantha stated that 17 to 18 of the lists have been completed and that some of them have been dispatched to the respective areas.
