Elections Secretariat receives complaints on unauthorised appointments

Since the announcement of the dates for the general elections, the Elections Secretariat has received up to 67 complaints on unauthorised appointments and promotions given to officials.

The Complaints Unit of the Secretariat said that investigations are underway into the reports. Additionally, they have received up to 16 complaints on the display of posters and cut-outs for the general elections. Twelve complaints are on the distribution of goods.

The number of complaints lodged on the misuse of state property stands at eight, while  one complaint has been lodged on the use of state personnel for election propaganda activities.

One hundred and eleven complaints have been received in total thus far by the elections secretariat, since the presidential elections. Meanhwile, the police have received up to 13 complaints on election law violations.

Police Headquarters stated that they have commenced investigations into these complaints.
