The Sri Lanka Freedom Party on Tuesday June 30, commenced interviewing candidates to field for the August parliamentary elections.
The interviews for candidates to be fielded for the August parliamentary polls under the Sri Lanka Freedom Party ticket commenced at the SLFP Headquarters located down Darley Road, Colombo.
Provincial councilor, Pradeshiya Sabha members and a number of new faces were called in for the interviews. The interviews were conducted by SLFP seniors such as Dr. Sarath Amunugama, A.H.M.Fowzie, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Piyasena Gamage.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Sarath Amunugama said that they hope to field candidate free of corruption for the elections this time.Meanwhile, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena noted that they hope to increase female representation when providing nominations and to raise the female representation to at least 25 percent.
A.H.M. Fowzie, expressing views, said that they hope to win this election and appoint a prime minister from their side and develop the nation under the rule of President Maithripala Sirisena.
