Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended a religious event in Poojapitiya, Kandy on Tuesday June 30.

Speaking to media, he said that it was said in Parliament that the Minister of Finance had issued 28 licences for Ethanol and spirits.

He raised a question – if they remained for a few more days what else would have happened – adding that ethanol is being imported.

Speaking further,  the former president noted that the son-in-law of the Governor of the Central Bank is the one who did the deal and this person was brought in placed in the Central Bank.

Commenting on the COPE report he noted that there was influence to dissolve parliament before the report was made public.
