One person was killed in a heated argument that went out of hand in Maharagama, while in a separate incident, the body of a male was found close to Weerapuranappu College in Moratuwa.

One person was killed in the brawl that broke out between two groups in a restaurant in Maharagama on Monday, June 29, morning.

Police stated that those involved in the brawl had been under the influence when an individual murdered the victim with a knife at the restaurant. They added that the deceased is an actor named Indika Rathnayaka.

They went on to note that as the incident had been recorded on CCTV cameras at the restaurant, the suspects who have been identified have fled the area. The body of the victim is lying at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.

A body of an individual was found along Galle Road in close proximity to the Weerapuranappu College in Moratuwa. Police suspect that the deceased may have been run over by a heavy vehicle. They added that since the incident had taken place during the early hours of the morning, several vehicles may have run over the body, leaving it beyond recognition.

The victim’s identification revealed that he is a 53-year-old resident of the Katubedda area in Moratuwa. Police added that the body the victim has been placed at the Panadura General Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
