The Opposition has alleged that the COPE sub-committee report on the governor of the Central Bank has been delayed.
MP Professor G.L. Peiris stated that the speaker issued a directive to produce the COPE report to Parliament within two weeks and a month has passed so the present status of this report must be made aware.
MP Bandula Gunawardena noted that the people of this country will have many doubts over avoiding the opportunity to expose the controversial treasury bond issue and request that and order be issued to present the COPE report to this Parliament so that the faith placed by the people will be ensured.
Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella stated that it is not the speaker who should be questioned about this, but the Opposition MP and the chair.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa answered the queries by stating that there are instructions to the chair of the committee to inform on this when the parliament convenes on July 7.
