General Secretary of the JVP, Tilvin Silva, says that the current parliament is functioning against the public mandate.

He made this statement while addressing a public meeting in the Habaraduwa on Wednesday.

General Secretary of JVP Tilvin Silva said that this Parliament is not suitable for this country now, and 6.2 million people in this country voted for Maithripala Sirisena knowing that if he wins, Ranil Wickremesinghe will be Prime Minister for 100 days. But now the position of Prime Minister has expired, so has the cabinet. He went on to state that “It isn’t valid anymore.”

He further  stated that it is the same with the Parliament, because that too is functioning against the public mandate. He stated:

The mandate of the people given on  January 8 and the composition of parliament, are contradicting. Because those who were defeated by the people are serving as the majority in Parliament. So, the country cant be steered to the direction that we want to.
