Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended a religious event at the Sri Sudarshanarama Temple in Heenarangolla in Welimada.

Speaking at the event, the former president noted that in the past, a person is sent to jail after the case is taken up but now, the case is taken up after the person is put behind bars. He said this is what is known as good governance.

He added that he has been to jail earlier and was imprisoned for three months and did not admit himself into hospital like his brother, who has taken ill and is still in hospital. Rakapaksa noted that even if he was unwell, it is not to be shown and because there was no illness, he remained in prison.
