Fox Searchlight has released a trailer for “He Named Me Malala,” an upcoming documentary feature film on the life of 2014 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai.

The film, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, gives an insider’s portrait of Yousafzai, who has become a global champion of education rights for women.

The documentary centers on Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.

Since then, Malala has become a symbol of defiance in the fight against militants operating in ethnic Pashtun areas in northwest Pakistan.

She has met various world leaders, including U.S. president Barack Obama and Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, and was lucky enough to address the United Nations, and at the age of 17 became the youngest person in history to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, in 2014.

“He Named Me Malala” is being released by Fox Searchlight in association with Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Participant Media will be released later this year.
