Two coastal conservation officers assaulted in Tangalle

Two coastal conservation officers have allegedly been assaulted in the Madilla area in Tangalle.

Director general of the coastal conservation department, Prabath Chandrakeerthi, said the two officers were attacked while going to inspect a site of an illegal construction. The officers were admitted to the Tangalle Hospital following the assault.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said investigations are underway to identify the attackers.
