President Maithripala Sirisena, speaking at an event in Galle on Friday stated that a proper National Education Policy will be created.
The event held to felicitate Venerable Udugama Samitha Thero who was vested with the position of Chief Sanganayake of Hinidum Paththuwa took place at the Sri Gunananda Buddhist Centre on Friday in Kidihingala located in Neluwa
He went on to state that there are plans to create a transformation in the free education sector of the country through new educational reforms in the future. The President stated that therefore there is no need to engage in pickets on the streets until you obtain employment after achieving a university degree in arts.
He further added that such situations arise when there are shortcomings in the education system and as the new government, there is hope to bring together the educationists , the National Institute of Education, the National Education Commission and others in order to bring about new changes and transformations required for the education system and address the shortcomings and create a new education policy .
The President further stated that he works devoid of any party differences and that green, blue and red colours are not included in the development of the country. He went on to state that there is respect towards the political party which he belongs to but on one hand there is work to be done on the political vision but while serving as the President he does not function under the any political affiliation.
The Dhamma Hall constructed at the Viharaya was also declared open by the President along with the IT Lab of the Neluwa National School.
