SSP Roshan de Silva and two others have been sentenced to eight years rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty of murdering a school student twenty five years ago.
The sentences were announced when Panadura High Court Judge M. Z. Rasheen made the decision over the case. In addition, the suspects were fined Rs. 25,000 each. Judge Rasheen also noted that if the suspects fail to make the payment, their sentence will be extended by another year of rigorous imprisonment.
The suspects were charged with murdering a sixteen-year-old student and then burning his body in Pokunuwita, Horana on January 15, 1990.
