Police seize SUV driven by former president’s security officer

An unregistered luxury SUV driven by a security officer of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has been seized by the police after it was concealed following an accident.

Elaborating on the incident, Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera stated that investigations are underway to locate the original owner of the vehicle.

The accident involving the SUV in question had taken place in Kudawella, causing damages to the wall of a house and public property. According to our correspondent, the SUV had been taken away soon after the accident.

The seized SUV was found by the police, in a plot of land in Weeraketiya.

The Police Media Spokesperson noted that a statement has been recorded from a police constable attached to the former president’s security detail, who, in the statement mentioned that he had driven the SUV, but did not know the owner of the vehicle.
