The aircraft which was found at a warehouse at the Economic Centre in Narahenpita on January 3 was handed over to the Museum of the Sri Lanka Air Force on Thursday, June 04.
The aircraft was handed over under the auspices of the State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena.
The aircraft, designed by Vidyajothi Dr. Ray Wijewardena, which was the subject of much controversy in the recent past was handed over to the Sri Lanka Air Force Museum following renovation.
The family of Ray Wijewardena and a group including the Commander of the Air Force were present at this occassion.
State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene stated that they hope and pray that inventors like Ray Wijewardena will evolve in Sri Lanka in the future. He pointed out that therefore, they must, as a government, provide their fullest support to such talented designers, because when they look at the western countries, the governments provide massive support for these inventors to present their designs.
