Parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardene, and the Secretary of the Puttalam district of the Jathika Saviya program implemented by the presidential secretariat, have been further remanded until June 17.
The duo was further remanded after the Criminal Investigations Department produced the suspects before the Fort Magistrate on Wednesday. MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardene was charged for misusing 22 vehicles belonging to the presidential secretariat.
Presenting the suspects in court on Wednesday, the CID informed courts that the presidential secretariat had paid an installment of Rs. 6 million for the vehicles used by MP Gunawardene. The CID also informed court that they have been unable to gather information regarding 17 other vehicles belonging to the presidential secretariat, adding that further investigations into the matter will be carried out.
