The cabinet has given its approval for a new set of rules to be implemented governing the use of the national flag.
Minister of Home Affairs Joseph Michael Perera stated that the set of instructions that existed with regard to the national flag will be made into rules.
He further added that a proposal is being made including the standards on the rules, the regulations and the steps that will be taken if these rules are broken regarding the national flag.
The Sri Lanka Standards Institution has also provided advice regarding this matter.
He also went on to note that the new set of rules will be presented to Parliament in due course, so that no one can misuse the national flag or disrespect it.
