Doctors in the Trincomalee district engaged in a strike action in Trincomalee on Friday in protest over the alleged attack on a doctor with a hammer. The doctor was attached to the  Thoppur Rural Hospital.

The doctor who was admitted to the Muttur Hospital in Trincomalee was later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
