Day 14 of the Ranbhumi Rally witnessed the convoy carrying the message of National Unity travel from Chilaw to Nattandiya on Thursday afternoon.
The convoy resumed its countrywide journey from Chilaw in the morning with a grand acknowledgement by the locals. The fishing community blessed the rally with great enthusiasm.
Students of the area presented colourful performances with the arrival of the convoy as the people etched their mark on the Ranbhumi Rally for Unity, marking another step towards building a peaceful country.
As the Ranbhumi Rally began its journey to its 41st stop in Madampe a three-wheeler parade joined our convoy.
Upon the convoy’s arrival in Madampe, the locals welcomed the rally with a cultural performances, following which, the brick engraved with the name of Madampe was placed on the float with a pledge for peace and co-existence.
The convoy reached its final stop for the day, the city of Nattandiya and received an enthusiastic welcome from the people.
Here, the Ranbhumi rally was welcomed by the Eastern band of the Dammissara Maha Vidyalaya in Nathandiya to the tunes of the official song composed by the MTV/MBC media networks for the Commonwealth Heads of Governement Meeting (CHOGM).
The Ranbhumi National Unity Rally will travel from Negombo to Kuliyapitiya via Sandalankawa tomorrow Friday May 22. The rally is being organised by the MTV / MBC Network, News 1st, The National Youth Services Council and the Colombo Port City Project.
