The Court of Appeal rejected an application filed seeking an interim order preventing Harin Fernando from operating as the Chief Minister of the Uva Province.
The Court of Appeal rejected the application seeking the interim order after considering the writ petition submitted by the General Secretary and a Provincial Councillor of the UPFA.
The Court of Appeal announced three verdicts on this petition on Thursday. One was that the request made to abolish the gazette issued announcing that Harin Fernando has been appointed as the Chief Minister, has been rejected by the Court of Appeal.
The application made seeking an interim order preventing Harin Fernando from operating as the Chief Minister was also rejected.
The request made to re-instate Shasheedra Rajapaksa to the post of Chief Minister of the Uva Province was rejected by the Court of Appeal.
Court announced that as these decisions need to be made at the conclusion of the case, they were rejected.
Chairman of the Court of Appeal Vijith Malalgoda and Justice H.C.J.Madawala took up this petition on Thursday and postponed it to June 19.
