News1st has received reports that aid is finally reaching Sri Lankan labourers that were affected by a fire that erupted at a labour camp in Doha, Qatar following an exclusive report by News1st.
A group of Sri Lankan labourers lost their accommodation facilities after a labour camp caught fire in the Seheliya area in Qatar. We at News 1st reported about the hardships the victims were facing on Saturday (May 9th).
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Attn. at. Law Nandapala Wickramasuriya noted that the owners of the industries have provided them accommodation and he had advised the officials at the SLBFE to travel to the location and investigate the temporary accommodation camps inorder to report if they fulfill the basic requirements.
Yet the workers have expressed their distress for being victimized in unknown lands due to such circumstances when they have come in search of a good income. However according to the Foreign Employment Bureau bringing back the workers would not be an easy task.
